America’s Next Top Model boosts social strategy
New social media engagement strategies are popping up everywhere: TV shows, companies, business people, and public figures are coming up with ways to implement greater fan involvement via social media. America’s Next Top Model is one of the latest TV shows to implement a fan-voting component to their decision making. The producers have figured out that when they post something on the show’s Facebook timeline, the post gets about 500 likes and 75 comments. However, when they post something that requires a vote there is a dramatic increase in likes and comments, with the average being 600+ likes and 800 text comments.

Gisele Bundchen rejected by 42 modeling agents!
Did you know that 42 modeling agents rejected Gisele Bundchen before she was eventually signed? Even though Gisele has graced the covers of countless magazines and walked hundreds of fashion shows, her road to fame and fortune was not easy. Despite not being signed until she met with the 43rd modeling agent, she is currently on track to be the world’s first billionaire supermodel.
Gisele is living proof that persistence pays off, and we bet that the 43rd agent was glad to have taken her on. Gisele is currently looking to find models in remote areas of her home country by promoting a contest titled Top CUFA (Central Unica das Favelas, or Central Union of Slums), which will focus on finding model talent from Brazil’s most underprivileged areas.
Breaking into the modeling business
Before attempting to break into the modeling business, it is important to understand all the different types of modeling. Different types of modeling require different looks. Modeling is a very tough business to break into and not everyone is cut out for it, especially considering the emotional and the physical requirements that it takes to do this professionally. Depending on the market and the type of modeling, print models can be any size, but runway models have to be around 5’10″ and between sizes 0 to 4. To be a model, you have to be able to take rejection and criticism without losing confidence in yourself and your abilities. You also do not have to follow a strict diet and exercise obsessively in order to be a model, as long as you choose your niche correctly. Modeling does not have to be a pressure-filled job, since stressing over comments, rejection, and where your next gig will come from will not advance your career; however, working hard, looking your best, acting like a professional, and accepting that you cannot please everyone will definitely help you achieve your goals.
