Ever wonder if you have what it takes to be published? Model member and fitness, commercial and editorial photographer James Patrick shared some of his tips with us. “When it comes to what I look for in talents when considering them for a feature in a publication,” said Patrick, “I think it depends primarily on the publication and what they are looking for. From a photographer’s perspective in general, I am looking for talents that can live up to the brand of the publication. By that, I mean that each client I shoot for has a specific need, niche, look, etc. What works for one may not necessarily work for another. One suggestion I would have here is when a photographer is casting for a publication to pay close attention to the specifics of the casting. Your photos must demonstrate your skills as a model in such a way that would make you stand out from the rest of the pack. Additionally, it is important to know how to properly highlight the client’s product. Understand that whether or not you get the job depends on knowing the right people, so take time to attend networking events, as well as work hard to connect with people in the industry.

When she first posted a twitter photo of herself with Kimberly, people were wondering who the stunner was standing next to her. It just happened to be our very own Kimberly. In addition to her attention-worthy photo with Paulina, she has extensive modeling experience with L’Oreal Paris, Smart Bargain, Air One Italian Airline, Winter Music Conference (Banners), Improper Bostonian, Spirit Boston Magazine, Grace Ormonde, Platinum Wedding Style Magazine, Stuff Magazine, North End Scene, Sedurre, Splash Magazine, , New Hampshire Bridal Magazine, Puma, Rue La La, Wedding Expos, Performer & Talent Magazine and more! Child models and stage mothers
We all know that little girls love to play dress-up, but only a select few have made a career out of it. According to The Telegraph, many child models are establishing lucrative careers before they can even walk. However, there are concerns that the parents of these child models are being exploitative, and that they’re pushing their children into modeling for personal or financial gains. Supermodel Cindy Crawford, however, told her 10-year-old daughter to put modeling on hold for the next seven years due to the harsh nature of the industry. Children should be able to enjoy life when they are young, because essentially modeling is a job, and parents should not force it on their kids.

Former model opens fashion camp
Following her successful career as a model, Heather Cole decided to teach aspiring young models the ins and outs of the modeling world by organizing various summer camps. One of her camps, Camp Fashion Design, focuses on exploring the many unique aspects of the fashion industry through intense workshops and team-building exercises. Over the course of four days, campers (ages 12-17) learn how to put their ideas on paper, as well as how to pitch their concepts, pick out fabrics and construct their pieces. The $999 course also offers campers the chance to work with representatives from top fashion schools, tour NYC’s Garment District and meet professional models like “America’s Next Top Model” contestant Ashley Howard.
