Congratulations to Model  Amelia Talon on becoming Playboy’s Miss June 2012 Playmate. Playmate is a very coveted position, which many girls strive for, so it is a major accomplishment and definitely something to celebrate! Jenna Talackova makes top 12 in Miss Universe Canada
Model  Jenna Talackova made history by being the first ever transgender contestant to compete in the Miss Universe Canada pageant. Although she did not win first place, she made it to the top 12, which is a remarkable accomplishment. Jenna was also one of the four contestants named Miss Congeniality. Jenna won the right to compete in the contest after drawing international attention to her disqualification. While Jenna may be disappointed at not winning first place, she won the battle for civil rights by being allowed to compete and forever changed the competition. Kudos to Jenna!

Congratulations to Model  Alloy Ash for scoring the cover of Bound by Ink. Alloy Ash is a state champion TIG welder and successful alt model. She’s scored multiple magazine features and covers, including a 10-pages and the cover of Bizarre Magazine, and National Geographic filmed Speedcult, the welding shop she works at in Detroit. Alloy Ash said, “It’s a little complicated being a welder at Speedcult and a model as I’m not the type of girl that’s worried about getting bruised while I’m welding. I’m the queen of the flame throwers there too – they shoot two stories!” She’s also very humble about her success and feels incredibly lucky to have worked with some of her favorite photographers, including Christian Saint, Andy Hartmark, and Lithium Picnic, as well as being sketched by Michael Hussar! Alloy Ash is certainly going places and with more covers coming out soon looks set to be a regular in this column.
Kat Lehto in Leslie Deep’s music video

Congratulations to Model  Kat Lehto on recently being part of Leslie Deep’s “Don’t Need Nobody” music video. Here is what she had to say about her experience: “It was a lot of fun working on the music video. I had worked Leslie Deep before on two other music videos (Ho No Mo and Drive Thru). Everyone was always happy and smiling in the video, and constant energy was needed. The hardest part was working outside in the middle of the day because it was so hot. The experience was rewarding and the music video came out great.”
Thin models don’t inspire most women to shop
The fashion industry has always had a popular belief that using very thin, young and beautiful models will make the average female consumer want to buy the clothes because the women all want to relate to youth, beauty, and slenderness. However, a recent study has shown otherwise. During the study, women were shown ads which had models that had some of their traits, all of their traits, or none of their traits. The results showed that the more traits the models had that were the same or similar to the women being shown the ads, the more likely the female consumers were to respond positively to the ad and purchase something. Did you know that women want to see clothing modeled by someone who is close to them in body shape, size, age, and race? Do you know why that is? First, it is because the average consumers can relate better to the person being in the ads and second, they like to see how the clothing looks on someone like themselves.
Hollywood’s latest trend: Models turned actors
And finally, did you start modeling so that you could eventually get into acting? If so, you may have a chance because the more modeling success you achieve, the greater the chances that the right person will see you. Both acting and modeling are very competitive, especially in Hollywood, where almost everyone believes they are a model or an actor. It is very common in Hollywood to become a model before becoming an actor. Sometimes, people have to accept modeling gigs before they can make enough connections to get into acting. Most good models are also very good at projecting emotion, which is required for people to become actors. Some of the top examples of models turned actors are: Brooklyn Decker, Milla Jovovich, Charlize Theron, Ashton Kutcher, Tyrese Gibson, and Kim Basinger.
